Over the summer after a ReKon team meeting, Matt Waxman and I decided we wanted to work on further developing the company’s social media-particularly the ReKon Productions’ Instagram. Over a few meetings we decided we wanted to create our own content, and with help from John Blue and John Schrad, we were able to get the ball rolling.
We decided to showcase the ReKon intern experience and all the important tasks they do in office. Instagram has a time limit on posts, so the videos had to be short and ideally quick to produce. We wanted to keep the look of older (Think the 1950s) training videos and add the cheesiness of an 80’s sitcom.
Our “good” intern Betty was organized and prompt. Our “bad” intern Buzz was an absolute mess and terrible at completing tasks. Matt had a great time working on his character and I think successfully emulated a greaser. A lot of Buzz was on camera improvisation by Matt trying to be as messy and obnoxious as possible.
To get into the do-gooder Betty mindset I listened to the Full House theme song…it really helped with the over the shoulder turns and forced smiling to camera. I almost went the full pigtails and glasses route, but figured it might be just a tad over the top; I think the cardigan really spoke for itself.
It was wonderful to have the amount of freedom we did – we were involved in the whole process: creation, writing, shooting, acting, and influence post and social media. Schrad and Blue were incredibly helpful and patient with us first-timers. The series would not have been the same without them.
Our full season has been released on the @rekonprods Instagram. On Friday, October 13th the series will be released to the ReKon Productions Youtube Channel.
“When needing a space to shoot a very unique shoot on a tour bus, ReKon pulled through, gave us a great rate, and were accommodating every step of the way. They constantly wanted to help us out with anything we ever needed, had all the amenities we were searching for, and they had a dedicated staff that made our shoot run very smoothly. I’ll be coming back to ReKon for sure!”
“Professional. Skilled. Efficient. Creative. Resourceful. Committed. These
are some of the qualities that come to mind when I think about ReKon
Productions. Collaborating with them on our Full of Grace film project was
one of the best decisions we made. They were masterful in working with our
budget and the window of time needed to produce the film. They will no
doubt, be our go-to for future LA projects.”
President, Outside da Box/Executive Producer, Full of Grace
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with ReKon producer, Lesley Lopez, on a short film I produced entitled “Eat & Run”. She and the entire ReKon team, were beyond helpful, personable and made me feel at ease during the entire production process. ReKon, as a whole, emits professionalism, kindness and forward-thinking through out their ranks.”
